A kilt and a kippah (yarmulke)

To whom it may (mildly) concern,

“Paul’s look has evolved — these days he typically performs in a stylish hat.

The focus is always on the music and the connection with the audience.”

With antisemitism on the rise Paul understands some may mistakenly assume his show is “too Jewish,” “religious,” or “divisive”

and may want to play it safe, fearing controversy with their crowd or staff, regardless of personal views.

...at this time Paul generally does not wear a kippah performing.

Paul’s kippah is a symbol of a place where light and inspiration come from,

but he is equally comfortable without it or wearing a hat — it’s about authenticity, not alienation.

In videos you will see him perform with, and also without,

or with a hat. It's about the quality and rarity of the intimate artistic experience.

ALTERNATEVELY

  • There’s also increased demand in interfaith, and spiritual performance spaces,

where someone like Paul is both a rarity and a voice people want to hear.

            • Many upscale bookers (especially in NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, Miami) love a compelling niche,

and a piano man with soul, elegance, and spiritual flair can stand out more, not less.

With or without...

Paul Toshner is a soulful piano man whose music draws from the richness of jazz, story, and spirituality. Performing with quiet elegance—and yes, a sometimes a yarmulke—he brings a deeply human, intimate energy to every show. His presence is reverent but never preachy, rooted in tradition yet reaching toward the universal. Whether in a supper club, theater, or private event, Paul creates a space where audiences don’t just listen—they feel seen.

Paul Toshner sits at the intersection of timeless jazz and personal truth. With a kippah sometimes on his head and stories in his hands, he performs not to impress but to connect. His music speaks to the soul, not the market, and his shows leave people feeling uplifted, moved—and just a little more awake. In a world of polish, he dares to show something real.

Paul Toshner is a jazz-influenced singer/pianist whose soulful performances blend story, reverence, and elegance

—with a unique personal identity that only deepens the resonance.
