As a Piano Man I played across Europe, mostly Switzerland, Denmark, as well as London’s West End—performing four hours a night four nights a week for four years in Hyde Park and Regent Park hotels. That’s where I built a repertoire and honed a set and equipment approach.
Now based in the U.S., I spent the last six years bringing an intimate, story-driven concert to various 55+ communities, private homes and fund raisers—where I'm booked regulalrly.

OPERETTA has been honed during these recent years, performed in the bookings for my show THE SONG IS THE PLAY, up and down the East Coast.
After my new PAPER GUN show I invariably stay and take requests Piano Bar style: with some Bob Dylan, Billy Joel Frank Sinatra, Beatles, and others. And sometimes stay and do THE SONG IS THE PLAY show in full the following night.
My original, one-of-a-kind operetta, PAPER GUN is performed with the same theatricality and musical intimacy as my show THE SONG IS THE PLAY.
Always a different, but revolving around a theme of the path from illusion and pretense to integrity — to live authentically and with purpose.

ABOUT PAUL
Paul started life as a musician playing in Princes square, an up-market shopping center in Glasgow Scotland, as well as local piano bars, he then got to cover for a friend Danny Thompson at Mickeys Pizza in Denmark. From there he went on to piano bars in ski resorts in Klosters and St. Moritz, Switzerland. Followed by residencies in two London West End hotels, before coming to the US 8 years ago, where he has performed throughout touring as a soloist.

He’s Paul Avrom Toshner.
A classically trained and jazz singer, Paul lives in Pikesville but was born and raised in the city of Glasgow. His professional career began in the Danish city of Aarhus, when an acquaintance asked him to cover his gig as a performer in a hotel for a month. From there, an agent got him jobs playing at the bars of Swiss ski resorts. He went on to take his performances all over the United Kingdom, including London, Manchester, Blackpool and, of course, his native Scotland.
In the course of his adventures, Paul eventually crossed paths with a Dr. Tan Sri Khoo, he says. A major shareholder and chairman of a British textile company, Khoo became his major patron and pushed him into the musical genre that would become his staple.
Khoo happened to be a great fan of Sinatra. He said he finds American audiences enthusiastic about his repertoire in general — which is what influenced him to relocate to the US three years ago.
“[The British] were great, they’d say, ‘Oh, it’s great, mate. Do you want a drink? Can you play Wonderwall by Oasis?’ But the Americans would be like, ‘Hey, man. Do you know Bob Dylan? Here’s 20 pounds.’ They would tip,” he explains. The fact that American audiences seemed more emotionally invested in his performances helped to sway him as well.
With a friendly, bubbly personality that lights up the room and makes everyone feel welcome, Paul is known for his distinctly off-beat style and an almost mystical relationship with his music.

He delivers piano and vocal performances; blending jazz, classical and live looping versions of the 1970's singer songwriters (Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Bette Midlar, Leonard Cohen, Carol King, and some of the Sinatra song writers)….as well as his own compositions.
